Dell Inspiron 7746 is a big premium laptop with forged aluminum design
and diamond-cut beveled edges. It comes with a 17.3-inch display
(optional touchscreen) with Full HD or HD+ resolution and 135-degree
operating angle. With 5th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors
(i5-5200U or i7-5500U), it’s ready to provide powerful performance and
long battery life. The Broadwell processors have Intel HD Graphics 5500.
You can combine it with optional nVidia GeForce 845M with 2GB GDDR5
graphics memory. At this moment, there is no information about what
storage options are available. On Dell website, I have only found 1 TB
5400 rpm hybrid hard drive + 8 GB cache option. Of course there are some
other storage options available. Using DDR3L memory technology and
equipped two SODIMM connectors, users can upgrade the main memory up to
16 GB.
On the left side you’ll see a power adapter connector, an HDMI port, a
LAN port, a USB 3.0 with PowerShare, a USB 3.0 port, an 8-in-1 card
reader, and a headphone / microphone combo jack. Two USB 2.0 ports are
on the right side along with 9.5 mm DVD +/- RW and security lock slot.
The audio controller inside is Realtek ALC3234. It has dual speakers
with Waves MaxxAudio Pro as sound enhancement. Chiclet keyboard with
full-size keys and numeric keypad offers comfortable and accurate
typing. Below the keyboard, there’s a touchpad with multi-gesture
control and 1211 x 1267 dpi resolution. LAN port with up to 1000 Mbps
Ethernet provides fast connection. Wireless features such as Wi-Fi
802.11 b/g/n or Wi-Fi 802.11 ac with Bluetooth 4.0 combo and Intel
Wireless Display (WiDi) are available. Using its 0.92 MP camera, you can
record videos up to 720p. This big laptop’s dimensions are 412.40 x
269.40 x 25.40 (HD+ non-touch) or 27.70 mm (touch). Not only big, it’s
also quite heavy (starting at 3.29 kg with optional touch display).
